SAINT ELMO'S goes SXSW 2015

The jury and the community of the leading American conference for digital media, music and film, South by Southwest received over 5,000 panel proposals this year. Better known by the abbreviation SXSW, this event takes place from March 13th to the 22nd in Austin, Texas. SAINT ELMO'S US branch in Los Angeles came through with their panel proposal "Why curation will save the music industry" despite the massive quantity of entries for the jury and the SXSW audience. Tim Stickelbrucks, Managing Director of SAINT ELMO'S Los Angeles, will talk with music industry greats such as Scott Cohen, founder of the world's largest digital music sales platform The Orchard, and ex-Apple iTunes impresario Gary Stewart. The topic is how business models in the music industry are changing by offering an unlimited availability of music through new streaming services like Spotify or iTunes Radio. We will examine how high-quality editorial choices can affect the competition, as opposed to using music suggestions generated by algorithms. We’ll also examine the importance and the influence that brands will enjoy thanks to their communication activities in this context.
